So the news just in is that The North Face athlete Jez Bragg, winner of the 2010 UTMB, will be attempting to the run the Te Araroa Trail in New Zealand in Decebmber this year.
This 3000-km trail, stretching from Cape Reinga on the North island to Bluff on the South Island (yup, he's running across both islands in the process!) was opened in December 2011 and covers some of the country's most scenic landscapes. Dramatic coastlines, stunning indigenous forests and remonte mountain passes are just some of the terrain types that Jez will be tackling along this mammoth expedition run.
The target is to run the full 3000km in
Taken from the official Te Araroa Trail website:
"It's one of the longest walking routes in the world. Hundreds of volunteers worked for over ten years to put the trail in because it wasn't there."
